FireKeeper Program

The White Pine FireKeeper position is a one-of-a-kind Mentor in training opportunity for Indianapolis youth. Participants must be 13 years or older, with prior White Pine experience, and have a passion for the outdoors. This is, at a minimum, a one year, 10 hour-a-week commitment.

FireKeepers work side-by-side with our lead instructors, North team, POC and Mission Leaders. Responsibilities are customized to the FireKeepers interest and include leadership roles in mentoring youth, facilitating guilds, leading stories and circles as well as clean up chores.

On trade for all of their hard work FireKeepers get free attendance in the Shikari Mentors Pathway. This is a year-long certification in our 8 shields nature connection model which includes one comprehensive training on a Saturday for each unit, and an overnight camping expedition. Additionally, Firekeepers will be required to attend one staff meeting per unit.

FireKeepers will find all of the benefits of being at the inner core of the White Pine community as well as exclusive opportunities, missions, and overnights. Spaces are limited to 10 FireKeepers per year. FireKeeper class of 2020 starts this January.

FireKeeper Application

Becoming a FireTender is a fantastic way for White Pine students to build leadership skills. If you are the parent of a Scout or a Flying Squirrel who is interested in attending one of the younger age camps they can do so by committing to the FireTender position.

Added responsibilities include; leading guilds, gratitude circles, clean up chores and games. FireTenders are FireKeepers in training and FireKeepers are Mentors in training. Previous experience is helpful but not required.

Space is limited to two FireTenders per class. Enrollment cost is the same as attending class. Inquire with the North team to enroll.
