As a child Asher enjoyed experiencing nature as hands-on as possible, catching every frog possible, building forts in his back yard, and eventually on the campus of the seminary in St Louis that his dad attended. Those five years at campus cemented Asher’s love of nature into his being. The other boys played whatever sport the season called for while Asher caught rat snakes, built forts, and covered himself in mud for camouflage. After moving to Indianapolis Asher attended middle school where he found an unfounded distrust of nature in his peers. After his dad’s family bought a cabin in Brown County Asher found his outlet… a place to swim in muddy ponds and chase deer, a place to be in nature. While at White Pine Asher hopes to encourage nature connection and interest; something seemingly discouraged in formal education.
